The Affiliated School of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies Profile
Established in 1970, the Affiliated School of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies used to be a school for children of employees of the Guangzhou College of Foreign Languages. It is located at the foot of Baiyun Mountain, in the beautiful campus of Guangdong University of foreign Studies. Restructured in 2000, it became a private school for public used, funded by Guangdong University of Foreign Studies. Nowadays，it has become the base of honor for important education projects, including: educational base for “Life Education” of the 11th Five-Year Key Educational Project by the Ministry of Education; the National Research Fund for Teachers 12th Five-Year Plan key project units by Ministry of Education, training base for the “Millions of Talents Training Project” of the general education system in Guangdong Province; green school of Guangzhou, Advanced School of Baiyun District Guangzhou, teacher training base for regional teaching reform of Baiyun District Guangzhou, model school for moral education, Baiyun District Guangzhou. Currently, the School contains 40 classes, including the primary section and the secondary section, with over 1700 students and more than 130 teachers. Relying on abundant educational resources in foreign languages teaching from GDUFS, our school has adopted a unique model of foreign languages teaching, creating more opportunities for the students to practice spoken English. In addition, the School also holds various English activities regularly, which enable students to put learning into practice timely and to consolidate their knowledge, at the meantime, raise their interests and confidence in English learning so as to improve their oral English speaking skills rapidly.

Our school attaches great importance to the idea of “work for good personality before good career”, and makes the School a paradise for learning and growing. This can be seen through various regular activities such as Sports Festival, Reading Festival, English Cultural Festival, Science and Technology Festival, Art Festival, etc. Students actively take part in these activities, team-work spirit, persistence and good personality are cultivated.
Remarkable Educational Achievements
In recent years, we adhere to the goal of educating modern citizens who are mentally and physically healthy, practical and have healthy personality, we have witnessed a stable and sustained improvement of our education and teaching quality with results of the entrance examination ranking among the best in Baiyun District in Guangzhou. Over 200 teachers were awarded with the nation-lever prizes and over 500 teachers were awarded with the provincial-level prizes. Meanwhile, about 90% of teachers have taken on national demonstration classes. In recent two years, our school has received many honors including: “National Advanced School of Characteristics” and “Characteristic Demonstration School” awarded by Professional Committee of Primary and Secondary Schools of The Chinese Association for Non-government Education; “National advanced unit on Education and Research” by Chinese Foundation for Teacher Development and the 11th Five-Year Plan Investigation of Education Ministry; and one of the “Top 100 Schools of National Education and Research” by Ministry of Education, and so on.
